Ti cassette

I just started a thread asking for input and/or reviews on Cycle Dynamics Ti Cogs. The company seems to have done their homework on the manufacturing process. The argument against the non-Campy/Shimano cassettes is that there is no longer a weight savings to justify the price since the improvements made a few years ago by Shimano. That's why SRP stopped producing them. I think it will be a longevity/performance decision to buy one. www.cycle-dynamics.com

The weight issue is not so important, as you say, there are other cassetes that are real lightweight. I'm not so sure on there strength though; and you try getting hold of a decent (XTR type) in eight speed rather than nine!
You know what it is lie taking MTB offroad. If the drivechain components are too greased up, they pick up everthing. Having to keep my bike outside (I Know it's a sin!!!), anything steel goes rusty, quick. I see Ti as a decent alternative, but with loads of benefits.
I'll have to see what else I can find out about Cycle Dynamics. Their site seems to be biased towards their engineering skills, which is a positive. I'll have to see what they come back with.

I have been playing with a Ti cassette from cycle dynamics for the road bike. I use a Shimano compatible 9er. Thus far, I am quite happy. The big advantage is that you can mix and match. I bought a couple of extra rings and now can do anything from an 11/25, 11/23, 11/21 11/20..12/21, 12/23, .. depending on the ride. Just swap out a couple of rings and off you go. They are nicely manufactures and shift quite well. They save about 30g or so in weight so that's not huge. I don't have enough miles on them to comment on durability. Their customer support is outstanding, albeit you may have to wait a couple of days to get a call back. They are eager to please!
