I've been diagnosed as having a borderline hypothyroid condition (TSH around 3.3 with all the classic hypothyroid symptoms). After experiencing chest pains and other hypothyroid-related symptoms recently, blood tests revealed my cholesterol was at 207, triglycerides and LDL were also slightly elevated and the TSH was back to 3.3. I was given instructions for a low-fat, low cholesterol diet and scheduled for a stress test along with an increase in the strength of my thyroid replacement drug. I have a family history of heart problems (father has twice had open-heart bypass surgery).
Could the angina be linked to the hypothyroid problem? Are there specific cardiac symptoms/complictions assoicated with hpyothyroid that I should be aware of?
