I am an avid long-distance mountain biker and have been experiencing serioius thumb problems. About a year ago, after two seperate one-hundred mile rides, I started to experience intense thumb pain in both hands....presumably from haning onto the handlebar in extremely rough terrain for hours at a time. Eventually, a tendon in my left thumb became so 'streched out', that I had to have surgery about two months ago to 'tighten' the tendon in order for my thumb to resume its proper position. I am now recovering from the surgery, but I'm curios if anyone else out there has had a similar problem. I have been to several doctors and done a fair amount of research, but have not been able to find anyone who can tell me exactly what happened, or what to do in the future to prevent it happening again. I will be experimenting with custom grips and splints this year, but I'm extremely concerned that the problem will come back. Any information would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks for the help....
Happy Trails!!!
