thread sizes on american and german pedals

There are only two pedal threadings in common usage these days:

9/16" x 20 tpi is used on almost all adult bikes everywhere, everything
that doesn't have one-piece cranks.

1/2" x 29 tpi is used on one-piece cranks, on older and/or lower-quality
American bikes.
