Having various bits of clothing with different properties would be fun.. Bright colours (i.e fluo yellow), reflectives, proper fluorescent that are only visible under UV.
One of my physics teachers at school did a good trick with fluorescent materials. He got some washing powder with optical brighteners in it and sneakily scattered it on people's jackets hanging by the lab door. He then produced, with a flourish, the "Dandruff Detector" (UV lamp) and shone it carefully at the collars of the jackets. The mortification of the more gullible members of the class was a sight to behold...
The sort of thing that would quite rightly be frowned upon nowadays!

Not in the sense of their limbs being made gangrenous, no. ;-)
I think 'mortify' is too strong a word to describe people's reaction in this case. It's other sense is to humiliate or cause shame. Although pupils might instantaneously feel embarrassed, perplexed or confused I'm sure they soon realise the humour of the situation. Far worse takes place in school playgrounds, children need to learn to recognise different types of humour.

Depends on whether the teacher did it in a humorous or insulting way as to whether it's mortifying. It's the kind of thing that could work really well, but looks bad on paper, whatever the circumstance, if you ask me.

Will keep musing and may well take up offers as and when it comes time for the event - if offer still open at the time.
Am tying in the light/colour thing with use of bike as way to reduce carbon emissions - alternative transport etc... One of the other stalls is about reducing carbon emissions generaly - so I'll flow through with the use of a bike as a way for someone to reduce their carbon emissions (as less reliance on car..) and link in the colour bit with fluorescents/reflectives - somehow - in a fun way - without appearing to ram it all down the throat & being evangelical about cycling. If you see what I mean - I know what I mean, anyhow!
