  1. I'm looking for a tourer. Has anyone got any experience/info on the
Thorn Sherpa. It looks like a serious contender, but when I wrote to
the guys at the suppliers I got a meagre reply to my enquiries. However
I am disinclined to let that put me off what might be a good buy. Then
again, there's always the Dawes Sardar. Not sure though how I can
    compare the two.

    Any advice/comments would be terrific.

    Ed.

Thorn bikes are businesslike, and Robin certainly knows the touring
market. If you can get to Bridgewater it's worth the trip to try some
of their bikes. The tandems ride well, some of them have the poise of
a solo. On the other hand, my maxim for cycles is that you can't go
    far wrong with a Dawes.

I second Guy's advice to get down to Bridgwater if you can. I wouldn't
buy a bike mail order again.

Will they let you have a ride yet? Their policy of 'buy it then refund if
you don't like it' always annoyed me.

    cheers,

We went there and rode some tandems, he didn't seem to have a problem with
that> I had a go on a couple of tourers as well, but not outside the shop
    premises (area round the back).
