A few courtesies first:
I would like to apologize, because as an avid discussion board participant in areas other than cycling, I know these posts get a bit annoying. Also, I would like to thank you in advance for any time you spend reading as well as any input you are able to give.
Next, my situation. I am a college student, looking to purchase a bike. I think what I want is a steel road bike, but I'm not even sure of that. I say that because they are light and viable for exercise (the secondary use of the bike) but also durable and hefty for commuting (the primary use of the bike). If I am incorrect even here, please let me know. On that note, I have been looking around for some steel road bikes for purchase, and I see, as per usual, a vast range of prices coming from brands I recognize such as Bianchi, with significantly cheaper bikes coming from brands I have never heard of.
I guess what I am saying is that I am completely clueless of which kind of bike to get that will be durable, but also lightweight(ish). If anyone has recommendations, links, etc. they will not go unread or unappreciated.
