Please help a somewhat inexperienced poster out. Since you all likely know much more than I do, what bike model do you think best fits my criteria?
1) Made for road-cruising and long-distance rides, but capable of withstanding potholes that would make some off-road trails look smooth. (I'm in Duluth, MN, quite possibly the pothole capital of the world).
2) Comfortable - comfortable to ride sitting down (NOT standing up), certainly not a cycle for the "aggressive" type of rider but more for one who enjoys comfort.
3) Ideal for somebody not in perfect shape...errr, well far from it.
4) A good range of gears, with the lowest low enough to tackle long, steep hills (you know what I'm talking about if you've lived or been here before).
5) Priced affordably (but not cheap), between $300 and $800.
