In the spirit of the "Motorcycle Diaries" I have decided to start up a thread here to write about the great rides I constantly have on the country roads around London Ontario. My bent is an Evox 140 and I am getting to the point where it is safe to say I like it more than my Bianchi racing bike.

I took the Bianchi out yesterday and had a good, fast ride, but at the end, arms, shoulders and hands ached. This never happens on the bent.

I was out on the bent today (Sunday, October 16/05) And had a great autumn ride. We are getting close to peak colors in the trees, and the weather was a mix of sun and cloud. Temperature was cool and I went almost 20 kilometers. Top speed was 41 km (it was really windy) and I averaged 15km/hr, which wasn't bad considering the wind.

I have a rack and pack on my bent and I took along my camera. I have attached a few pictures I made along the way. Simon (my son in China): here's what Canada looks like this fall.

Anyway, I'm treating this thread as a Blog for now. Anyone else please jump in and feel free to write about your fave rides and please post pictures where possible.

Just a quick update. This is a pretty quiet blog for the moment, but I am hopeful that people will post their riding stories here.

Here I am out for another country ride. Saturday, I'm going to Toronto to pick up a new ham radio to take on the bent. I'll be bicycle mobile again!

Well, its snow city around here. We've got 30cm on the ground over the past week making riding a bit of a challenge.

Last weekend was warm and sunny. I took the Evox out on abandoned rail lines and did a bit of off-roading. Everything worked well and I went about 10km on trails. Because of the snow, I'm going to buy a set of knobbies today. I'll have more traction on the snowy roads, and the bike will be better on trails when the snow disappears.

I put on the snows! A set of inexpensive knobbies now permits somewhat more traction on snow-filled streets. I came onto bare pavement and found just a little bit more rolling resistance with these ones. It's funny to be hearing "tire hum" again.
