New Zealand Discovery Channel team rider Hayden Roulston has been fined NZ$300 for disorderly behaviour after an incident outside a bar in Timaru, New Zealand in the early morning of October 16.

A show of drunken violence at a Christchurch, New Zealand bar back in June this year may cost Hayden Roulston a chance of a lifetime to ride with Lance Armstrong's Discovery Channel cycling team. The New Zealand Herald reports that Christchurch District Court Judge John Bisphan found Roulston guilty of two charges of assault after he attacked two bar staff on the night of celebrating his Olympic selection. A suppression order was in place while he competed in Athens, but was lifted yesterday in court.
Eh, what's a little disorderly conduct? I've got friends who've been written up for disorderly for climbing trees and refusing to repair a bike in the mud instead of on the sidewalk. In a 20-30 man brawl, lots of things could happen that would make you react violently. He might have just been defending himself. Certainly, being last group at Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne, taking wind so your teammate George can start off his best season ever on the right foot outweighs a little tussle now and then.

On a side note, you add Roulston to the list of riders ending last season with cyst surgery. Savodelli, Freire... all on Selle San Marco saddles. That looks bad.
