  1. Whats the crack all.

I am a man on a mission. My mission is to cycle from my lonely little town in the south east of Ireland to the great pyramid in Egypt. It’s a hell of a mission. One, because I don’t really cycle. Two,I don’t know mush about bikes and three well there is no three I have lots of motivation and am pretty fit. I do a lot of mountain climbing and running.

What I need from you nice foke is advice. Routes, gear and the like would be a great help. What would be even a bigger help is some one who has done the route before. I am going with my brother and we were thinking of hading across the alps through Austria down into east Europe through turkey then get a boat from turkey. Syria and Israel don’t really appeal to us. no offence to Syrians or Israelis

Other route go’s through Greece and boat it from there.

Maybe I am totally deluding my self but I exspect to do it in a month. Give or take. Well what do ye think?????

  2. Before you start your "mission" you should have at least 1500 miles of training behind you. You can find a good touring bike like the Trek 520 for about 700-1000 USD. You will need a set of panniners which are like bags that hold all your gear on the bike. Consult your local bike shop and they will take care of you.

If you already have a bike you should spend at least 40-70 USD getting it worked on so it doesn't fail halfway there.
