  1. Yesterday I went out to a bar. I was having a grand old time until I asked the bartender to make me a Long Island Iced Tea. Aside from being from Long Island, I also consider myself a whiz at mixing these. The bartender insisted that it was made with Sambuca, despite my protests. We argued for a while, and it ended with him refusing not to put it in even if I wanted that. So, I drank the bloody thing. And it was terrible, licorice and tea? Yuck. Is it just me or did bartenders used to be respectful, nice people that would listen to your problems and not get too attached to them? When did they turn into losers that can’t get respect except when you’re in their bar, and then they are king of the world?

A bartender is suppose to control the enviroment of the bar..... This guy not only does not know how to make Long Island Teas, but he doesn't understand the tipping process. I was known to make a good Long Island ... What was your recipe?

  3. I get most of my drink recipes here: www.thebar.com you tried it? I like it because they have an virtual bartender (who isn't a tool) that actually demonstrates how to pour the drinks. Here's what they have in their Long Island Ice Tea:

    Ingredients
    • .25 oz. gin
    • .25 oz. vodka
    • .25 oz. white rum
    • .25 oz. tequila
    • .25 oz. triple sec
    • 1 oz. sweet and sour mix
    • 6 oz. cola
    • 1 wedge lemon (optional)

What's in yours? I know there's no sambuca, that's for sure. That bar that I went to is usually great, I have never seen this bartender there before. I'm starting to think he was just someone's friend that was lying and saying he was qualified to mix drinks or something, though I bet that's illegal. I'm over the annoyance of it, it's just pissy to go out expecting a good time and get the exact opposite out of it.

No Sambuca ... I have used this recipe except I usually add more sour out of the gun and less coke...... I have noticed though if i do not use tequlia that women like it better. but then that would not be a true Long Island. I used chipped ice one time and the response was great..... Along with a little umbrella and tipping the glass edge with the lemon wedge. A ladys drink for sure....... My partner uses the same recipe as me but he uses RTU sweet & sour. But I get complaints about his.....
