Hello fellow cyclists,
I'm working with a non-profit organization to raise funds for AIDS relief in Africa. I'm working on organizing a mountain bike race in Northern California.
I got to thinking about our cause, and the difficulties that people in this country are facing today, and it struck me that the race should somehow embody this human struggle in some way.
For this reason I have altered the format to an 8-hour/10-mile criterium (solo). Originally it was going to be a relay race but in 8 hours the sensation we leave with was that it was just another day on the bike... This race needs to be hard. I also don't want to exclude any group of riders, so the race will consist of 3 skill levels (expert/intermediate/beginner) and gender categorization for a total of 6 racing categories.
This is an uncommon format for most relay race-style courses and I wanted to gauge the initial perception of such a race. Does it appeal to anyone here?
Thanks!
Regards,
Carlos
