I hear 'cyclists don't obey traffic rules' all the time, but it's
never clear what this means - some or all of the cyclists,
and some or all of the time?

Every time I go out on the road I see drivers break the
rules - running red lights, changing lanes and turning
without indicating, tailgating etc - does that mean that
cars shouldn't be allowed on the road?

  3. Yes.

    Seriously but.
Motorists are their own worst enemy. Look at any traffic system & it’s predominantly tailored to ‘car’ traffic, and still they complain.
Whether it’s bicycles, motorcycles, trucks, buses or trams, motorists will whinge about how they’re being short-changed or marginalised. This has come to the extent that usual ‘cars’ are targeted as well – enter the 4WD.

It’s easy to see how Ford Perfect’s (from Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy) initial impression was that cars were the dominant life form on this planet.
