The second statment doesn't conflict with the first. You may want a
guy, but just not as a TdF GC contender.

I did read the article and they said Johan was not interested in Vino
but they didn't quote anything which said that specifically so I don't
know what they meant exactly.

And the difference between the two days is that Johan may not have
known Vino only wanted a team where he could be the GC contender. If
that's what he wants then maybe DSC decided they didn't want him.

Or it could all be a chess match that will decide contracts and money
negotiations.

It's as though he's trying to put the thought of failure in Vino's mind for
this particular Tour, and at the same time, reduce the amount of money it
would take to get him on the Team - or is that what you're saying?

I predicted on the first true mountain stage, when he lost 5:18, that there
was no way that Vino would go to discovery. I can picture Johan sitting in
the team car, watching Vino crack, thinking why do I want this guy?
