I'm usually happy to bag on fill flash, but also note:

In the GW picture Cunego is in shortsleeves, in the first
Sirotti picture he has a jacket and the road is wet. No
wonder it looks colder. Also, in the GW pictures you can
really see the expressions on the riders' faces.

Agreed. A better comparison is on the Bormio 2000. Not that
any of this is subjective, but I don't like what the fill
does to flatten out the image. Drama is created more by
light and shadow than the absense of it created by fill.
Sirotti is more to my taste aesthetically.

I think that may have more to do with the way they are
edited and presented on the web. Jeff?? You can see plenty
of expression on the faces in Sirotti's pics. With a larger
presentation, like on Watson's site, the image comes through
better. I can't imagine that Sirotti is using a lower
quality digital camera. Its interesting that on Sirotti's
web site, you can't access the quality of image that you can
on Watson's without paying for it.
