    I found that fingerpost a wee bit misleading in 1998 when
    completing the Yorkshire 3. We thought we could crack the 10
    hours on reaching - and seeing - the sign. I think a number
    must have dropped off, as we still had a bit of walking to
    do at our 10 hour point.

    you actually was;-).

    Where is the offending signpost? It is only about 4.75
    miles from the summit of Ingleborough to the New Inn
    crossroads in Horton so it is difficult to see what it
    could have been unless it was once 4.5 miles and is
    situated just below the summit at one or other of the 2
    path junctions (South to Clapham).

    I would guess it is the finger post at the bridleway
    junction at Sulber (SD 777 734)

    I've just had a quick look on Anquet and from there to the
    station at Horton its about 1.7 miles.
