  1. IIRC Barb made a *make me feel good* comment on how clean my stove was.
That was such a nice thing to say! As Barb or anyone who cans knows
the stove takes a heck of a beating during canning sessions.
Yesterday's Italian pasta sauce made more splatters creating a mess on
my stove, walls, and cabinets. It took me ages to clean it back up or
at least it sure felt like ages. Most sauces will do this and jams can
be worse since burnt sugar is a real pain to clean up. Most of the
canning pics have been taken just after the jars have been taken out of
the canner. I move them to a large cork board for them too cool
overnight. My kitchen is so chaotic right now with produce, jars ready
to use, jars cooling, and other stuff on the go. Just the way kitchens
    are made to be 🙂

I'm glad my pics are being enjoyed by some. I love taking and sharing
them. DD & I take pics of our dinners quite often and send them by
email to each other. She is an excellent cook in her own right. Her
style is more gourmet and her presentation is always spectacular! She
lives in a city where she can get really neat and exotic ingredients. I
really envy that. I'm more of a down home meat & potatoes cook so later
today I will share pics of a special bread, apple pie, and bbq roast 🙂
I think mashed potatoes, gravy, and niblet corn will go well with the
roast. I might do up some chard too as I have extra to use up.

BTW tomatoes are supposed to be finished by Wed so I'll only have got to
9 hampers this year. I'm happy though. It's been a productive time and
I made 4 new products I've never made before. All have been very good!

    (snippage)

My Scottish grandma used to can fruit and she had a second kitchen in the
basement strictly for use in canning, making messy sauces, etc. Not a
practical solution for everyone, obviously, but she got very upset if her
upstairs kitchen was messy. She also had a fruit cellar down there in which
to store all her canned stuff. 🙂
