  1. Hi Everyone!

I just wanted to come out of lurking to thank most of you (there are always
some exceptions - I have a lot of killfiles since my first day here) for
your wonderful words of wisdom, support, experience, encouragement and for
being so easy to relate to. I see myself in so many of the posters in this
group it makes it that much easier to continue on. I would personally like
to thank Luna for being able to put into words the way that I feel a lot of
the time, to Saffire for being the first set of progress pictures showing me
that this is a way of life that can make a difference, to LCer09 for being
so real (also gets my vote for best looking couple with her husband) and to
Carol (Damsel) for all of the support she gives to everyone here (you are
truly a beautiful person inside and out). Of course there are many others
here also that contribute so much on a daily basis, thanks to you too.

I have been low carbing since the end of March of this year and with the
support of this group I have been going strong. The reason I came out of
lurking is because I know due to history that the next five months are my
"living hell" period (Oct. - Feb) and I do not want to undo all the
wonderful gains I have made so far. This time of year is hard on my
physically and emotionally because of my job stress (retail management) and
emotional stress (three suicides of close friends) that have happened at
this time of year over the past years. Over time I have been able to deal
with the depression, but looking back I have never dealt with it in a
healthy manner (eat more, start smoking). The only smart thing I did was go
for therapy after the second suicide. Anyway, I don't want it to sound like
I am a pathetic depressed loser, I just worry about the time frame coming up
and hope with the support of this group that I will be able to make it
through this rough time. You have all been supportive to each other, I
    figure it cannot hurt.

Thanks for listening to me ramble.

    Take care,
    moonprincess

This can, indeed, be a difficult time of year. When I was 15, I lost someone who
went into a coma the day after Thanksgiving and died 9 days later. To have the
death followed by people all around me making merry, partying and singing about
it being the season to be jolly just made it worse. I was shattered, and it
changed my entire life. Thanksgiving has never been a favorite holiday for me
ever since and there has even been a year here and there where I would not do
anything at all on that day.

Most human beings, in the course of human relations, love each other. It's
a natural thing to do, harder to say. But the love, whether it be for
someone sitting in a gutter or mansion, or someone online a thousand miles
    away, is just as real.

For many of us, it's easier to love than to accept love.

Wow! Well, thank YOU for the compliment. I work in retail too, and know how
stressful it can be. Last Christmas I completely snapped and asked a customer
"I'm sorry, does it say EMERGENCY ROOM over the door outside?" When she asked
why, I pointed out that she was acting as if this was a life or death
situation, and kindly suggested that because of my desire to keep ALL my
customers happy, I believed she would be better off patronizing another store.
(don't scream at ME like a fishwife! LOL!) And then, of course, there's
inventory which is even MORE fun!

Anyway, my husband got a kick out of being called 'best looking couple' even if
I did point out that I don't think there are any other couple pics up, so we
win by default. It's so nice to hear nice things after years and years of being
    the "fat couple" LOL!
