Hi, I was wondering if anyone had any knowledge about side effects from a tetanus vaccination. I recently had a Tetatnus, HEP-A, HEP-B, , and Polio vaccinations updated all in the same day; about a week later, my jaw developed some soreness and stiffness and it's still lingering, about 2 weeks later. The pain is similar to when I desperately need to pop my jaw, but a little more persistent.
I only ask about tetanus, cuz I've heard of the whole lock- jaw symptoms related to it, but I guess I would ask if there are any other known side-effects from the others? (Other than your standard arm soreness).

Lockjaw refers to the tetany of the jaw muscles caused by the tetanus disease itself. Tetanus vaccination does not produce symptoms of the disease. What you describe sounds more like TMJ arthralgia.

Ok, so I did a search on TMJ arthralgia and found out what it is. But how would this happen? I mean I never had problems with my jaw prior and it just creeped up out of nowhere. The only thing I could think of were these vaccinations I got several days prior. - just a coincidence?

Arthralgia following vaccination is not unheard of, so perhaps it was a result of the immunizatino. I have also seen epidemics of TMJ in the springtime, however, suggesting that there may be a viral trigger as well. The problem is, there is no easy way to know what really caused it.
One would expect your TMJ to resolve spontaneously, however, if you haven't had any problems with it before, especially if you start taking ibuprofen regularly.
