I've just got back from Tesco and they've rearranged the store so the bikes
are in the main aisle as you walk in. One that caught my eye was a mountain
bike which looked reasonable, but at £39.99 I had my doubts. I was tempted
to buy it for spares given that my girlfriend's bike has just cost £44 for a
new bottom bracket and chainset.
I was having a fiddle with it though and wasn't able to turn the pedals
although the back wheel turned as much as the locks and security tags
allowed. I couldn't see anything caught in the chain that was jamming it
either. At least the forks were on the right way round and the brakes were
connected up.
By the time I'd walked around the aisles a bit both of them had gone so
someone has either got a good bargain or isn't going to be too happy with
their purchase in a few weeks time!
They also had some mini 'stick on' lights for bikes which were just like
those keychain torches with a single LED but red or white to use as a bike
light. They were £8 each - for the same price you can get either a pair of
kitemarked lamps or for even less a pair of non kitemarked LED lights from
Wilkinsons.
