Something is wrong with my big toe on my right foot. I was on spring break a week ago, and this week I started up my usual exercise routine of cardio and weight training. Monday I went jogging after doing nothing for a week. On Tuesday, my big toe hurt so badly that I could hardly walk. The pain pulsed throughout my foot almost to my ankle when I tried to step. My brother claims to have had the same problem before, went to the doctor about it, and the doctor told him it was tendonitis. The toe has drastically improved over the week, but still hurts a little and feels a little bit rigid in the joint when I move it completely upward. I am planning on going on around a 6 mile day hike tomorrow. Is this a bad idea? Could I permanently damage anything, and is there anything else this could be other than tendonitis?

Thanks!
Do a google search for GOUT. Depending upon your age, your family history and your diet - it is worth a look. The toe could also be broken or any other type of injury to the joint.
Depending on shoe/boot fitting, it could also be a forerunner of a bunion.
Time to hope for just tendentious. 🙂
Good luck on the hike. If you get a lot of pain before half way you can still turn around (assuming a loop trip).
