  1. two brand new tyres have torn at the edge.....causing immediate flat, and can't simply replace the inner tube as it will flat again immediately as it bulges through the hole in the tyre.

any ideas why this (tear in tyre) happens? could it be that the metal rim on the wheel has become sharpened somewhere and tears the tyre?

any more walks home and I am really thinking about taking up a new sport ;-(

  2. continental grand prix.

i made a small dent on a couple of places on the wheel rim with a tyre lever - could this dent be tearing the tyres?

Please state the brand. Just when the site had some troubles and several posts were lost, I and another member had this issue with the same brand of tire.

  3. I had two new Conti GP tyres that had this issue, initially I thought the problem was under-inflation causing the side wall cracks but when the front tyre had the same issue I contacted Conti in the UK and they replaced the tyres.

A year later the side wall have cracked again so I repalced them with Vittoria's.

Give Conti a call or email via their web site they were very good in my opinion.
