  1. We are somewhat confused on the subject of Meet Manager importing
    events.
We don't understand the difference between creating heat/lane
    assignments in TM,
vs doing it in MM and then Exporting for a Meet Manager Merge ?

Here is a set of email exchanges from Hy-Tek...

    hi Charlie -
    a couple of different scenarios....
for just dual meets to keep it simple -

#1 - MM events are tagged as "manual" seeding,
and teams submit from Team Manager with all Heat/Lane assignments
    It works ok...

#2 - MM events are tagged as "auto" seeding,
and teams submit from Team Manager with NO Heat/Lane assignments.
The seeding "sorts" the entries, and it works ok...

#3 - events are tagged as "auto" seeding,
and "team A" submits from Team Manager with NO Heat/Lane assignments.
and "team B" submits from Team Manager with Heat/Lanes assigned -

Using "strict odd/even" for 2 teams - will this work ??
If so, then at what time, or under what circumstances,
is the Export from TM needed to be brought into MM for "modification",
and then Exported to the hosting team for a MM Merge ?

    For the hosting team,
what is the difference between Importing a TM Entries file with

    heat/lanes

and the flip would also be true - ?

The Meet Manager was using auto-seeding.
The Team Manager submitted with specific heat/lane assignments.
The auto-seeding did not honor the heat/lanes submitted from TM -

...Auto seeding is not looked at when importing.
If there are heats and lanes in the import file and those heats and

    lanes

are not already used, MM will bring in those heats and lanes.

Is there any way to accomplish these kinds of assignments from TM,
or is it only possible via the Team Manager --> Meet Manager -->

What about those attending teams that do not have MM, and only have

    1) Auto or manual settings have absolutely no effect on importing
    entries.
    2) Auto and manual settings are only used in the Seeding menu and the
    only
thing the manual choice does is prevent you from selecting the event and
    inadvertently seeding or re-seeding it.
    3) If heat and lane assignments are in the import file, they are
    imported
if the heat and lane is not already used. This is regardless of where
    the
    file comes from.
    4) Any time you seed an event or re-seed an event, it first ERASES all
heats and lanes of all entries, sorts the entries by time and then seeds
according to the rules in effect at that moment whether it be dual
    seeding
    or regular seeding.

Why are teams sending in entries in TM with heat lane assignments? That's
ridiculous! I'm running the meet, I seed/reseed with MM once late entries
close (okay, a few meets get preseeded and we might have to manually insert
latecomers in open lanes add a zero heat).

MM won't respect any lane assignments from TM, thank god. If you want to
seed in some non-stadard manner (strict odd-even? wtf?) you'll have to go
in and totally do it by hand. Not too hard, we do it as necessary for
combining events into a single heat.
