  1. For those who are physics-challenged, it appears that there is not much
difference between running on a treadmill and running outdoors. After five
months on the treadmill, I finally ventured outside. For the past two weeks
I have found that my pace is about 15 seconds/mile faster outdoors over 10k
than it is on the treadmill - probably because I've been depending on the
treadmill to keep my pace rather than managing my own pace. HR is a tad bit
faster due to the increased pace. So it appears that the only drawback on
running on a treadmill is relying on the treadmill to keep your pace.

Otherwise, I feel about the same after 10k outdoors as I do on the treadmill
(provided the temperature is around 70 degrees outside, which is what it
    usually is in my basement.)

    Howdy...

Well, I haven't been running as long as you have, but I did venture out
today to run outside and it was w-a-y harder for me. But, then again, I'm
coming back from over stressing my shins (too much too fast) and it was HOT
outside. So...once my shins are feeling fine again and I can get out on a
not-so-hot day, I'll have to see if the same holds true for me. But I've
always had a harder time running outside than on the TM. Even way back a
few years ago when I was running a bit on the TM. Going outside is just
harder. All the more reason for me to do it more! Take care and thanks for
    sharing, JJ

    JJ,
This has been a constant source of disagreement here. Some think like
we do, others say it's the same. A lot has to do with the TM they're
using, and how they use it, and how they run outdoors.

"As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and
more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day
the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the
White House will be adorned by a downright moron."
