  1. Hi. I understand that the sulfur-based amino acid taurine
    helps to spare the loss of magnesium from the body. Can
    anyone briefly explain the mechanism? Most important -
    Does this mechanism primarily involve the kidneys? Thanks
    in advance.

    .. One (non-renal) mechanism may be the inhibiting /
    lowering effect on potassium and copper, which are both
    magnesium antagonists.
