My older Cateye LED tail light needs to be upgraded as
It's like me..... not very bright.
I've read that their TL1000 has what appears to be a
bad design with the battery contacts causing a
reduction in light output.
Can any one recommend a comparably bright tail light?
TIA.

as an alternative, get one of those cheap Luxeon based mini flashlights and swap out the white led for a red one. Mount it to your seat post with a two fish bracket.

That is amazing, by the way how long do the batteries last with daily use? -
I was over at Performance bikes the other day and needed a new taillight for my bike and was ready to plop down $20-$30 for an okay light. Much to my surprise I found the store brand model ViewPoint Flashpoint model and it was on sale for about $12. It was far and away the brightest one on the shelf and had two mounting systems. Worth a look.
