  1. What time of the year do they turn into frogs etc? I was walking up the Afon
    Dringarth yesterday and came across a pool with loads in - a few showed
    signs of growing legs but most were still in the unformed state so to speak.
    I was always under the impression that the spawn was early in the year and
    tadpoles were like a April/May thing?

    Had a lovely walk from the village of Ystradfelte up onto to Fan Llia and
    over to Fan Fawr and coming back we decided to walk back down the road from
    the reservoir but had to turn back after we came across a no entry sign - is
    this road just for use of the Mountain Ash fishermen? We walked back over
    the river and back to the farm we had walked up earlier in the day. Got back
    to my car about 10 o'clock and in the dark.

    PS: Passed someone camping at the top of the valley between Fan Llian & Fan
    Fawr - orange 2 man tent - didn't see anyone though....very peaceful up
    there.

    <SNIP>

    My diary says "25/03/2005 - <snip> absolutely thousands of new frogs
    jumping all around near the top of Rogan's Seat (Land rover track)"

    I've never seen so many in my life! The noise was fascinating.

    In that area you may find they are toad tadpoles, which hatch out much
    later.
