A bit of an idle query really... I visited Decathlon at lunchtime ot buy a set of cone spanners.
They have the Tacx Mag 1450 trainer for 77 quid. I don't think I'm quite enthusiastic enought to get a trainer, but if the madness did strike me what should I look for?
I Guess my the nature of such things they're also available second hand. Anywhere good to look for them?

Try... www.ebay.co.uk
There's a couple on there now. Be careful though. Some folk seem to get carried away on e-bay and pay as much as you can get the stuff new! Decide what you want to pay and stick to it.

They can be v boring to use so the more numbers the better. If you can, get one that will do distance, speed and power and maybe also cadence. I wish I had one that did speed and power although I guess I could hook up a cheap cycle computer to the back wheel to get speed and distance. At the very least use it with a heart rate monitor so you can get yourself in the right training zone. I've got a basic TACX one that sounds like the one you saw. It does the job OK when used with a HRM. Also make sure you get a nice big fan as well or you'll melt even using it in an unheated garage. Having a radio or CD player handy will also help relieve the boredom.
I find it best to do fairly intense sessions lasting no more than 45 mins. Longer than that and I'd go mental.
I've seen Video's/DVD's for sale of 'nice sunny days' in the mountains and such which seem to have been filbed using a miniDV camera mounted to a Bike and are designed to be watched while training to relieve the boredom ?
