Hello there, Does anybody here know where to buy picked over crab meat in sydney at a reasonable
price? Also does it freeze well? I have a hankering for crab cakes but don't want to fiddle around
(no pun - sorry) with whole crab, or buy a heap of the stuff.

t.i.a.Richard.Whereabouts in Sydney are you? It's not something I've ever gone looking for - don't recall seeing
it at the seafood place in Penrith Plaza, just whole crabs. However, I wasn't looking for it so who
knows. Are you anywhere near Sydney Fish Markets? One of the retailers there might stock it -
although don't know what the price would be.--

Crab meat (and whole/parts) *is* available frozen, so should be freezable, if done quickly. It
suffers in flavor, but so does nearly everything that's frozen. Except popsicles. :-)What sort of crab is native there?

I'm in Bondi. It's not something I recall seeing at the fish markets before,
or anywhere here for that matter, but yes, that would be the best place to
begin a search. I'm surprised it's not more readily available, as it
apparently is in the States. I'll check out the canned crab situation at
Coles today.
tks,
Richard.

smallish cans.--
