Too right people in the media (and plenty outside it, I assure you!) are negative about his lack of success! We don't pay him an enormous salary to stuff himself with pies, or whatever else he spends it on - it certainly ain't an exercise bike! In first division football, he'd be on his way if he didn't come up with the goods! From Day One of his appointment, I never expected him to make world record holders out of ANY British swimmer, but I did expect him to "direct" in such a way that "performances" at major events were timed to produce something like a best time when it mattered.
The great white hope of UK swimming he is NOT! (and nor is Mr. Turner, it must be said!)
