  1. I have a 2013 Trek Madone 2.1 that I want to swap out the crank set on. It currently has a Shimano FC-R565 compact 50/34, which is pretty much in the Tiagra line, but what to swap it for a Shimano 105 non-compact 53/39. It has a press fit bottom bracket and just wondering if I will need to replace that as well. I've been looking all over the internet to find exactly what BB is on the bike and what exactly I need when I go to replace the crank set, but been having a hard time getting the info.

The bike came with mostly 105 stuff on it, with the exception of the cassette which I already swapped out for a 105 11-28, and the crank set, which I mentioned above. I'd like to have all 105 stuff on it, but my main reason for changing is I've basically outgrown the compact set up. Any help would be great.

  2. You should be able to just swap cranks without changing bearings. It would be a convenient time, however, to check to be sure the bearings are in good shape. Note that you'll need to raise the front derailleur to accommodate the 53T chainring.

  3. Cool thanks. Yeah I was thinking with the bigger chain ring I would need to raise it up a bit. No problem. Thanks.
