Will I be able to ride bicycle up Swanston St? I looked at all the
stuff on the web and it still wasn't clear to me.
I'm travelling from the south, and St Kilda Rd looks ok. Just not sure
what to do when I get in to the city proper. I guess I could head for
Elizabeth St, but I figure around Flinders St. station is ok.
If Swanston St has trams running and games lanes both ways, I can't see
any room for anything else...

The right lane (tram lane) is reserved for "VIP" <spit> vehicles, as
well as naturally, trams. The left lane will be for all other
vehicles. Including bicycles.
I know you will be able to travel short periods in the "VIP" <spit>
lane, so I presume that is how one will get past parked taxis and
horses and citybikes.
There was a reason my first choice was to be out of the city come the
games -- I successfully did that when living in Sydney during 2000,
but missed out this time.
