Today I rode along the section of sustrans route65 between hull and hornsea, at the hull end of the route, say the last 3 miles there were a large number of odd barrier-type structures, say every 200 to 1000 meters apart
Some of these were at roads so I assumed they were suposed to stop cars useing the trail however there were some just in the middle of the trail, not at roads and I have no idea why they are there apart from making your jurney less enjoyable (i could just manage to get though the chicane part on my hybrid bike and my female cusin with dropped bars could get though the yellow bit quite easily, getting a tandem though was another thing altogeather, both riders had to get off!).
If those structures are bad enouth, the one at the hornsea end of the trail just takes the buiscuit
This structure had a really low bar and a tight hairpin behind it, you had to get really low on your bike to get under it, tandem? forget it, again both riders had to get off and eather get under the bar or squeze though the tiny gap next to it.
what is the point?
Can someone enlighten me by telling me what these things are for?
Why just use regluar bollards at the roads and forget about the ones not at roads?
