Earlier today I crockpotted a cottage roll for use during the upcoming
week for lunches and made some buttermilk dressing. I find these to be
a good cheap meat for cold lunch applications, since a 7-8 lb roll is
$11.00 (CDN).
I just put the unwrapped cottage roll in the crockpot and sprinkle dry
onion soup mix on top, put the lid on and cook for 6-8 hrs on low.
Yeah, I know...salty onion soup powder bleah!...but it adds nice oniony
overtones to the fake ham.
So supper was a nice thick slice off of the Cottage Roll (Pork Shoulder
Ham). And a large Cobb like salad with 2 cheess, couple hard boiled
eggs, baby spinach leaves and thinly slice strawberriies in with the
salad greens and other assorted raw salad veggies. Salad was topped
with the Homemade Buttermilk Dressing.
