  1. Hey does anyone know of a road stem (1-inch) shorter than 60mm?

I see this one is the shortest out there with a removable plate:

Any ideas to get a shorter one? I don't want the Nitto Technomic,
because I have to disassemble the bars and to remove them.

I see the Look Ergostem, but it's $200...

I would use a threadless stem adapter for quill stems like this one for
    example:
    http://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?category=&subcategory=&brand=&sku=9755&storetype=&estoreid=&pagename=Show%20All%20Products
Then use one of the BMX stems like this one for example:
    http://www.extremesports.ltd.uk/bmx/product94-838.htm
They have a jillion BMX related stems one can choose from, all of them
    really short.

Has anyone had any issues with those? I haven't really looked into
them. Good thing, bad thing, wash?

They work good. I use them myself.
If you have a lathe you can make your own out of aluminum stock or even
    steel stock if you like.

    Check out:

Or just google "zoom adjustable quill stem". It will turn up lots of
    other sources.
