Do sugar alcohols spike blood sugar in all people? I'm still pretty new to
this WOE, and I find all this sugar alcohol thing a bit confusing. Some
people say to count sugarless gum as a carb per stick, but it has no carbs
from sugars, just sugar alcohols, which if I understood correctly, don't
count towards your daily net carbs. I started chewing gum when I quit
smoking 6 years ago, and usually chew at least 3 sticks per day. Guess I
just traded one habit for another!
Also, what about Stevia? If it's a natural sweetener, can't it cause blood
sugar spikes? I like to use about 6 drops mixed into an ounce of softened
cream cheese, and spread it on a flax cracker. Makes a tasty, fiber filled
snack.
Thanks in advance for your replies.
