the average us citizen is more apt to name characters of the tv show "the simpsons" than to name the seven freedoms granted by the first amendment.
so many are, let us call it what it is, brainwashed into believing these freedoms are some sort of hindrance to the "war on terrorism" rather than the fundamental ideals the us was built on.
i sometimes wonder how long it will take before the dots are connected by the majority as to the simularities between the hysteria of the mccarthy era and the willingness to allow personal and national freedoms to be eroded under the "post 9-11" bandwagon.
