As I wrote earlier I have a recommendation from a well-respected, long-standing member of the cycling community and Chairperson of a CCA committee. I also have the recommendation of a Director at a Provincial Association. So, Somebody seems to be taking it quite seriously.
There is absolutely no question that I can do the job and do it extremely well. The only question is whether the CCA will look past petty personal differences with people who probably will not even be around next season.
When you say "CCA" you make it sound like a huge organization. Of course they know all my stories, they all know me and have for years. (except for Lacelle and Adams who were just hired).
I have known most CCA Presidents since 1975. Did you know that CCA President has a son who is the President of Quebec Liberal Party Policy Committee and he is married to Claude Ryan's daughter. They are family friends. Marc Lemay who was President of the CCA about 15 years ago is now a Bloc MP in Ottawa.
Do you know how many CCA Directors and coaches I have seen come and go? Almsot always leavign the CCA worse than when they got there.
I managed a Canadian national team project for the CCA as far back as 1987 or '88. I hired Kris Westwood to ride for me in some races in 1991 or 1992. I have spoken to Brett Stewart numerous times over the years including all last year and this year. I have no problems wiht Brett. Remember I publicly supported him as the new COO. He is one of those people Patrick says never gets back to me.
Eric Van den Eynde coached me on his Quebec Provincial teams. I even raced against Eric, I beat him as Junior in some races when he was a Senior (he beat me back of course in others)
I have met at least three or four Provincial Presidents. I like to think I get along with two of them rather well. I have known Lesley Tomlinson since 1990 or earlier. I would have hired her to race for me when we were thinking about expanding Evian to a women 's team in 1991. Uboat, you don't know jack. You don't know me, either.
I have known Rob Jones since he used to hide in the woods to get pictures when he and I both wrote for Pedal probably before Van de Wille had been to his first bike race, though maybe he went as a kid since he seems to have some Belgian roots.
Do not presume to question me, Uboat.
PS Patrick, I have no interest at all in who you did your two other races for. Two races? Who cares? Who trains for two years to do two (or four) races? Are you afraid of a peloton? I did about 60 to 80 races PER year for five years as Senior, [censored], as Minime we did 20 races a year. Evian guys did 80 to 100 races a season.
You shouldn't embarrass yourself by even bringing it up.
