Non bike messenger answer: Improve safety by getting eye contact before making a decision to change
direction ( in town, I always either got that or shoulder checked the traffic coming from behind
twice, sometimes 3 shoulder checks just to make sure ). Doing things to make the difference in speed
between you and the traffic zero = no possibility of contact.
Bike Messenger answer: Being invisible is safer because then changes in the traffic in the loop are
predictable( many years ago, I was a bike messenger in Chicago ). Move at the speed of the traffic,
zero difference in speed = zero chance for impact. If you need to bail out of flying an
intersection, turn to become the same direction as the direction of traffic you need to avoid.
