That ride home was so painful.

Got home, and put my fingers under warm running water for a few
minutes. I couldn't tell whether the water was warm or hot or cool
though.

Many years ago, a mate of mine was working on his thesis and was getting very close to the deadline for submission. He did not go home for about a week and slept in the post grad students common room. . When he finally went home (he had moved back to parents' house at the time to save money), he found his parents had moved and neglected to tell him. He did come from a family of 12 kids!
