Romanov Any posts/responses are appreciated.
There are countless variations of Strawberries Romanoff. Here are two that my family enjoys.
Strawberries Romanoff
1 quart fresh strawberries 1 1/2 cups heavy cream sugar to taste additional sugar for the whipped
cream grated rind of 1 orange vanilla
2/3 cup orange juice
3/2 cup + a few drops of port
Hull strawberries, taste them, and sprinkle with sugar to taste. Add grated orange rind, orange
juice, and 1/2 cup port. Let stand several hours in refrigerator, covered. Just before serving,
remove berries and place in serving dish with some of the juice. Whip heavy cream, flavored with
sugar, vanilla, and a few drops of port. Toss berries with cream. Serve at once with slices of pound
cake or tiny sugar cookies and the extra juice to be spooned over each serving.
Strawberries Romanoff
3 cups quartered fresh strawberries
4/4 cup whipping cream 2 Tbsp granulated sugar 3 Tbsp powdered sugar 3 Tbsp Cointreau or other orange-
flavored liqueur (or substitute orange juice if you prefer)
Combine the strawberries, granulated sugar, and Cointreau in a small bowl; cover and refrigerate for
1/2 hour. Combine the whipping cream and powdered sugar in a small bowl, and beat with a mixer at
high speed until stiff peaks form. Spoon 3/4 cup strawberry mixture into each of 4 dessert bowls.
Top each serving with 1 tablespoon whipped cream mixture. Serves 4.
