  1. As the results of the 10k race I ran this past sunday still
weren't published, I called the organisators and asked them
about the results. As a matter of fact, the race was indeed
    1.4km too long.

This could better explain my poor 44'22" time. The same
    3'53"/km pace for a 10k would have produce a 38'50" time,
but as I slowed very much the pace in that final loop, when
I realized that I would never make a good time, I probably
more than 50", which would make it more consistent with my
38' goal... Still, I didn't run the race as well as I
should, and I have to admit that without mile markers, it's
pretty tough to figure out one's pace. All in all this gives
me more confidence, and perhaps the will to try yet another
    10k this coming sunday....

    cheers marko
