My coleman Peak one blocked first time on supermarket unleaded and needed a srtip and clean. After
switching to BP unleadeded I must have burnt at least thirty litres without any jet problems
although I have split the pump washer (£2;50 for a new one - not bad!)

Not so - supermarket petrol is generally sold with the minimum amount of detergents and additives
possible to keep the price down. When I was running a bike that nominally needed 99-100 octane
petrol, it would knock and detonate all the time on supermarket 95RON fuel, but happily run on
BP/Esso/Shell 95RON fuel as they put a little more octane improvers in.

Same is true for my new diesel focus - it smokes like a [censored] on supermarket fuel but use BP fuel
then you find that the smoke - while present - is much much reduced. It also starts a little easier
as the cetane value is probably higher.
