Stolen Bike Toronto

That sucks. I guess if you live in an apartment not much else you can do but use the facilities provided.

Maybe ask around where you can get good used bikes for a good deal (quote brands like Giant, Trek, etc.). This may lead you to the shops you're talking about. If you find a shop like this and suspect the bikes are stolen, call the cops (or the government..CCRA...who may be interested to know of this).

Most of these people get what's coming to them at some time in their life...not that this helps you.

Hey - I'd check out the postings on toronto.craigslist.org under "For Sale - Bicycles". Also, I hear (though Craigslist) that Igor's bike shop on Queen is pretty notorious for selling stolen bikes.

Good luck man... I'm only on the forums trying to find advice on where to buy a big ass padlock and chain here in the city. 🙁

I can't believe it. For startes it was double locked. Secondly only residents have access to the parking garage. Thirdly, number 2 being true means one my neighbours stole my bike!!! I'm disgusted! It wasn't the best bike in the world (a Trek 1500) but it was mine and I looked after it and loved it. I never once locked my bike "outdoors" as I know how bad Toronto is!

Talked to building management and they are going to try and get me the security tapes of the exits (pedestrian and vehicular) but they say I don't stand much of a chance as what happens is they simply put the bike in a trunk of a car and drive out. There's no camera pointing anywhere near the bike racks.

Does anyone know where stolen bikes usually end up in Toronto? I've heard of dodgy bike shops downtown that are infamous for selling stolen bikes, anyone know where these are?

Plus, I only rent where I live, so never thought to have contents insurance 🙁

yep, there's a few stores in downtown Toronto, but they move them out quickly...usually within a few days or strip them for parts before the cops do their weekly check...probably too late now
