I am thinking of selling my wired SRM and going back to powertap - mainly because I want to get ANT Heart Rate and GPS / Altititude and power all in one. So a powertap and and Edge 500 would be my goal. I can't see myself spending $3500 to upgrade to the ANT SRM.
Way back I had a powertap sl and it used to flex like heck. I changed the axle to a steel axle and it helped a bit. It was a 28h wheel so that might have been part of the problem.
My question is, if I don't care about weight - which of the current lineup would be the stiffest powertap hub? This time I will build up a 32h on a bomber rim with 3x lacing etc to be sure it's a stiff wheel.
I have a Powertap SL and found there was a lot of slop in the hub. They had a light alloy axle so I got a steel axle from wheelbuilder.com and now it is excellent.

I don't know the answer, but there's another option too which is the Quarq. It's ANT+ and runs about $1500 (not including a crank if you need one). PT's are great but the problem is you find yourself wanting more than one, which ups the cost a bit.

Slop in the hub? ... almost sounds like a personal problem 😉
You should try a different wheel builder. Powertap 2.4SL and much rigidity here.
