I have a problem with my headset. When riding it starts out fine then sometimes (aka intermittent) the headset seems to get sticky, and there is definate resitance to free turning - you feel this after a day of fighting it and it doesnt inspire me to be confident and trust the bike.😠
This is sometimes on rough singletrack and sometimes on smooth road ..... there is no sloppiness in the headset and there is nothing rubbing it ... so apart from buying a new one I am clueless.😕

Sounds like maybe a seal is distorted and getting trapped. Try to take it apart and carefully examine each part.
