  1. Steve's Pea Soup

    4 cups green split peas
    12 cups water
    3 carrots
    1 - 2 large onions
    5 cloves garlic or more
    salt & pepper to taste

Rinse peas. Add water bring to a boil and simmer Cut up carrot,
onion, and garlic. (I sometimes use a blender for this step) Add to
pot. Simmer until soup is ready, several hours. I often just leave this
onthe wood stove (very low simmer) for several hours

Options: 1) fry onions until brown and add to soup.
    2) add sausage (I like andouille chicken sausage and Turkey keilbasi.
    3) Small amount of curry powder. Not enough to shout curry but enough
to give good undertones. (amount depends on what curry powder you
have. start with a teaspoon worth. )
This is not a very critical recipe. If something is off by 30%, not a
    problem. Adjust to your taste.
