Why don't they create a program to distribute collection kits to pregnant
female health care professionals? A percentage of them will have
miscarriages, and the fetal remains could be collected without religious
implications. Presumably, new stem cells could be harvested from the
remains.
I gather many such remains now get flushed down toilets.
Science has found other stem cells
with embryonic potential. Primitive
adult stem cells from blood and
umbelical cord stem cells can be used.
So there are many options to an immoral one.

More or less... Occasionally, the parents request it back for personal
burial. Most end up in the pathology lab to be dissected to figure out
_why_ it died, then get autoclaved, shredded, and end up in the land
fill. BFI does the biohazard disposal for our lab and I asked them how
they handled the boxed biohazards, and that was their answer...
Stem cells can also be collected from umbilical cords from _live_ births
which would totally eliminate the religious implications. :-)

actually i find it quite disturbing that you would assume a potential mother
could just happily box her miscarriage in the miscarriage-kit right after
and ask the delivery service to pick it up. most of them, i suppose, are
probably a little bit more emotional about the whole issue.

They are, but he is essentially correct.
The VAST majority of miscarriages end up in the land fill after they are
autoclaved. (pressure cooked).
