Hello to all of you! I have been enjoying your NG for a while now and thought that i would make my first post...
I don't have very much hillwalking experience to date but i would like to start walking a bit more regularly. I want to do this both for the enjoyment of doing it, the feeling of achievement and to raise my level of fitness. I live in the west of Scotland so there are a fair amount of hills to choose from! I was thinking of doing Ben Lomond next weekend, would anyone recommend this hill for a chaps first Munro?

You could do worse, and you could do better. The most entertaining route up Ben Lomond is via Ptarmigan, taking you up alongside the loch for better views, with a descent via the trade route.
Bear in mind, though, that if you haven't done much walking for a while then it can be a big step up to something that size. You'd probably get to the top OK, but you might not enjoy it as much as you would if you tried some more medium-sized hills (and got your walking fitness up) before you tackle Ben Lomond.
If, on the other hand, you've already done that then Ben Lomond is probably a safe choice for a first munro. And if you do it next weekend then you won't be short of company on the way...

A good choice , a good path all the way, great views and when you get to the top look north to your future and rejoice.
Watch out for the size of the thing.. Its a low start so there is some height gain. Take a picnic on afine day and take your time to enjoy those views..
